GDSC2025 China Regional Selection·Hong Kong Station Concludes Successfully, Countdown to the Finals Begins!

From March 16 to 19, 2025, the GDSC2025 (Global Digital Skills Championship) China Regional Selection Hong Kong Station was successfully held at the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology. It attracted digital game art experts from all over the country. This event not only provided a platform for participants to showcase their talents but also promoted the development and exchange of China’s digital game art industry.

On the morning of March 16, the much – awaited forum kicked off. Dr. Eric Liao, Deputy Executive Officer of VTC, attended and delivered an opening address, instantly igniting the atmosphere on – site.

Subsequently, Mr. Chen Tingyun, an expert in 3D digital game art for WorldSkills Hong Kong, provided a detailed introduction to the school’s curriculum and the training process for WorldSkills competitors, offering participants a wealth of valuable information.

Mr. Derek Shi, Project Director of CSoft, also shared insights into the development status of Hong Kong’s gaming industry and the details of his company, bringing cutting – edge industry perspectives and inspiration. The Q&A session that followed was lively, with students and teachers actively asking questions to gain a deeper understanding of the latest trends in the animation and gaming industry, as well as the selection process for WorldSkills Hong Kong competitors.

On March 17 and 18, participants faced a two – day intense competition. They tackled comprehensive technical challenges in concept design, 3D modeling, and game animation, ultimately presenting the best visual effects in the game engine.

During the competition, a “super mom” participant emerged as a highlight of the event, proving that passion is the true “entry ticket” to the competition.

In the end, participants submitted complete works, including design drafts, model files, textures, and animation videos, to fully demonstrate their creativity and technical skills. The competition site was filled with tension and excitement, with each participant fully focused on delivering their best performance within the limited time.

On March 19, the technical review and award – giving ceremony were grandly held. The competition manager for this event provided a detailed technical review for the participants, highly praised their performance, and offered valuable suggestions.

Subsequently, award – giving guests presented awards to the winning participants, recognizing their outstanding performance in the competition. This moment was not only an affirmation of the participants’ efforts but also an encouragement and expectation for their future development. At the same time, the judges and experts also received certificates of honor to recognize their hard work and professional contributions to the competition.

Hong Kong Station was the last stop of the GDSC2025 China Regional Selection. After fierce competition, the list of outstanding finalists has been determined. These participants will represent China in the finals to be held in Shanghai in July, competing with participants from other countries. This is not only a contest of technology and creativity but also an excellent opportunity to showcase the strength of China’s digital game art.
